Update Live Brush v2.1.0– Brush Set Storage Upgrade

Update Live Brush v2.1.0 - JSON-Based Brush Set Storage

This update replaces the previous internal storage system with a dedicated JSON file for saving Brush Sets.

Brush sets are now stored externally, improving reliability and preventing data loss in case of crashes or memory resets.

Changes:

  • [Improvement] Brush Sets are now stored in a JSON file instead of Plugin Preferences
  • [Improvement] Increased stability, brush sets persist even if Aseprite crashes
  • [Improvement] Cleaner separation between data storage and UI logic
  • [Update] Expanded and refined Help documentation
  • [Update] Minor internal code cleanup and structure improvements

⚠️ Important Before Updating to v2.1.0

Live Brush v2.1.0 changes how Brush Sets are stored. Brush Sets are now saved in a JSON file instead of Aseprite's internal storage.

To avoid losing your existing Brush Sets, please follow these steps before updating:

✅ Step 1 - Export Your Current Brush Sets (Before Updating)

  1. Open the Brush Set dialog.
  2. Select each saved Brush Set.
  3. Tick "Config", use Export to save them as .json files.
  4. Store the files somewhere safe.

🔄 Step 2 - Install the v2.1.0 Update

Install the new version normally.

📥 Step 3 - Import Your Brush Sets Back

  1. Open the Brush Set dialog.
  2. Tick "Config", use Import.
  3. Select the exported .json files.
  4. Your Brush Sets will be restored.

🔐 About the JSON Permission Popup

When creating or importing Brush Sets, Aseprite may ask for permission to access or write a JSON file.

This is expected, click Allow so Live Brush can save your brushes properly.
